Associate Teacher
Assist the classroom teacher in providing high-quality early childhood services in a safe, and supervised
educational setting for children in their environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Promote
the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Encourage parent
involvement in all aspects of the program. Develop individual goals for children, provide an ongoing assessment on progress and facilitate transition into kindergarten. Must, meet requirements of the Federal Head Start Performance Standards inclusive of early Learning and School Readiness and any local, state, and/or agency policies and procedures. Adhere to The Leaguers’ code of conduct and Ethics Statement as stated in the employee handbook.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Positive decision and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work as a team member, collaborate with other staff, parents, and community partners.
• Ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily activities while adapting to the
individual needs of children.
• Respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis.
• Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children's needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills, internet, and e-mail.
• CPR & First Aid Certified (training provided).
