The Leaguers Inc., was founded in 1943 and is the oldest incorporated African American social service agency in the state. The Leaguers Inc., serves over 1500 children and families a year by promoting high quality Early Childhood education in Newark, Irvington, East Orange, Roselle, and Elizabeth.

Associate Teacher

Assist the classroom teacher in providing high-quality early childhood services in a safe, and supervised educational setting for children in their environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children.

Child Care Provider

The Child Care Provider is responsible for supporting and assisting the Teacher in planning and implementing an appropriate educational environment that fosters the cognitive, emotional, and physical growth of the young children 3-5 years of age. 

Early Head Start Teacher

Ensure our youngest children develop a solid foundation for life. Encourage the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers. Ensure their safety and welfare. Conduct child screenings and developmental assessments.

Family Advocate

The Family Advocate is the lead person in the Family Engagement process. Has primary responsibility for recruitment and enrollment. Promote family wellness and ensure parent involvement. Operate as a liaison between classroom, parent, and child in the areas of education, child development, and mental health. 

Head Start Teacher

Provide high-quality early childhood services in a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children while, they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. 

Health/Nutrition Specialist

Under the supervision of the Health Director, the Specialist is responsible for providing technical and direct assistance to Head Start/Early Head Start staff, children, and families relating to the Health Services/Nutrition Education. Collaborate with Family Advocates, Teaching Staff, Site Supervisors, and Disabilities Coordinators to assure integration of the Health Services/Nutrition Education work plans with all program staff.

Maintenance Worker

To provide custodial and minor maintenance for the center inclusive of classrooms, offices, and common areas. Maintain utilities, equipment, fixtures, and materials for the facility and grounds. Responsible for ensuring that the center meets licensing standards at all times and is a safe and hazard-free environment for children. 

Perinatal Educator (Home Visitor)

The Perinatal Educator is primarily responsible for delivering prenatal and postpartum education and home-based school-readiness services on a weekly basis the enhance knowledge of maternal and child development, as defined by Head Start Performance Standards.
