Head Start Teacher
Provide high-quality early childhood services in a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for
children while, they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. Develop individual goals for children, provide an ongoing assessment on progress and facilitate transition into kindergarten. Must, meet requirements of the Federal Head Start Performance Standards inclusive of Early Learning and School Readiness and local, state, and/or agency policies and procedures. Adhere to The Leaguers’ code of conduct and Ethics Statement as stated in the employee handbook.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly
desirable.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, internet, and e-mail.
• Pediatric CPR & First Aid Certified (training provided).
• Frequent significant decision and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
• Ability to work as a team member, collaborate with staff, parents, and community resources.
• Have the ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily activities while adapting to the
individual needs of children.
• Respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis.
• Daily kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor with children's
