Job Application

Health/Nutrition Specialist

Under the supervision of the Health Director, the Specialist is responsible for providing technical and direct assistance to Head Start/Early Head Start staff, children, and families relating to the Health Services/Nutrition Education. Collaborate with Family Advocates, Teaching Staff, Site Supervisors, and Disabilities Coordinators to assure integration of the Health Services/Nutrition Education work plans with all program staff. Manages, coordinates, and assures the provision of comprehensive health, nutrition education, and dental services for children and families. Promotes preventative health services and early intervention as well as health and safety practices. Plan and coordinate first aid training for center staff. Assures that child health records are maintained at assigned centers. Adhere to The Leaguers code of conduct and Ethics Statement written within the employee handbook.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understanding of Head Start Performance Standards and regulation.
• Understanding of State licensing regulations.
• Knowledgeable of Child Care Food Program guidelines
• Understanding of reporting procedures for suspected child abuse inclusive of laws and regulations
covering such abuse.
• Able to effectively communicate with adults, children, and other Services Area staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills, internet, and e-mail.
• CPR & First Aid Certified (training provided).
